Civil Discourse

Kathie has been meeting at the fellowship Mondays at 1:00.  The primary goal is to learn how to talk with those with different opinions and stances.  She welcomes others to join her every week.  Issues from the Great Decisions series can be discussed as well.

Nancy Horvath will facilitate a group discussion on Saturday, March 10, 10:00 at the fellowship on “Respectful Listening.”  Judy will post a sign-up sheet, and the announcement below will be made on UUChalice and at service.  Nancy asks the group be limited to 6 people.   Participants are welcome to join each other for lunch afterward at a nearby restaurant.

Nancy Horvath will lead a discussion group for us on the topic of "respectful listening" and the work of Dr. Robert Wicks on (watch newsletter for dates in October, at LUUF.  Using journaling, periods of quiet/meditation, and group discussion, up to six participants will reflect on:

        Learning how to listen to others in a group;

        Responding to the "secondary stress" we may feel because of the
        current political scene (on any number of issues;)

        Self-care and coping with stress;

        Understanding our own limits;

        Self-awareness, self-understanding, and self-acceptance.

 Nancy expects we'll spend about an hour and a half together, and participants can decide if they want to meet again.  Coffee and snacks will be provided.

A sign-up sheet has been posted in the coat room.  The class is currently full, future classes will be posted on our Facebook page and in our monthly newsletter.
Spirituality Jean and Sandy will have the Fall renewal meditation retreat (watch for dates in October newsletter). Participants will be guided in a quiet morning of silent reflection, meditation (Centering Prayer) and journaling practices.  Lunch will be shared afterward at a nearby restaurant.

Unitarian Universalist Sources of Faith Sharing/reflection group will meet every Sunday after coffee, starting

October 7th

Several copies of the book have been ordered,
see Jean Biegun, if you’re interested in participating.

Some preparation for each
session is expected.

The living tradition we share draws from many sources. This collection of inspirational readings from many cultures and times provides a felt sense of the six Sources of Unitarian Universalism. Organized by Source, and introduced with thoughtful essays from the editor, these readings are ideal for use in worship or for personal reflection.
